For the season of Lent this year, we invite you to take a journey with us as we draw nearer to God with prayer and fasting.

Though many think that fasting is simply “not eating our favorite food;” biblical fasting is a powerful practice that realigns our heart with Heaven.

Fasting quiets the flesh, strengthens the spirit, and increases hunger for God. Instead of indulging ourselves with the world, it trains our appetite to pursue Christ and be fully satisfied in Him.

Daniel 10:12-13 teaches us that when Daniel set his mind on God with fasting and prayer, it launched war in the heavens and Daniel was able to witness the power of God manifest in Heaven and on earth.

We will begin our 40 day prayer and fasting on February 18th (Ash Wednesday).

Simple guidelines before fasting

PRAY - Ask the Lord to show you what He is inviting you into - for example, greater intimacy, sensitivity, clarity of His presence and His voice; wisdom and understanding of His heart; breakthroughs and freedom from strongholds.

Decide - Prayerfully decide which type of fast Holy Spirit is leading you to. Think about which one is sustainable and wise for your situation.

Prepare - Prepare your body by slowly reducing your meals. And prepare your heart through prayer as you create space for God to speak.

Steward - Steward your fast as your sacrifice unto the Lord. Practice setting aside time to seek Him in worship, prayer and Scripture.

Enjoy - Enjoy this intentional time with Jesus. Expect for the things He will release over your life. He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him.

Types of Fasting

Full Fast - You only drink water but no food.

Partial Fast - You fast for a certain time of the day; 12a-12p, 12p-6p, 6p-12a.

Daniel Fast - You eat no meat, sweets, or bread; drink water and juice and eat fruits and vegetables.

Non-Food Fast - You fast anything non-food that distracts you - for example, social media, entertainment, negative speech, thoughts, habits.

We do it together

Our heart is to journey through 40 days of prayer and fasting together as a family.

Once names are added to the calendar for fasting days, we will share the schedule so we know who is fasting each day. This way, we can cover one another in prayer and send encouragement as the Holy Spirit leads.
